CANTERBURY A JUVENILE CONTEST i An interesting juvenile cricket contest was begun at tho Basin Reserve yesterday, when senior and iunior teams representing the Wellington Boys' Cricket League met similar teams representing the Canterbury League. The players in the senior section aro under 18 years of age, and. those in the junior section are under IG. All four teams comnleted their first innings yesterday, and will rcume at 10 a.m. to-day. Tho wickets were in excellent order and much of tho play was well worth watching. Dempster was tho only player to como near the century mark, but ho was unfortunate, in being bowled off bis pads when his score stood at !)il. Dnwe and Bourke also played good cricket, compiling 68 and 57 runs respectively. Logic, bowling for Canterbury in tlio junior match, did the "hat trick." Tho outstanding feature of tho senior match was tho brilliant batting of Boon, who made 82 runs for Canterbury before ho was dismissed by a ball from Connon. On tho play in the first innings tho Canterbury seniors are 48 points ahead of the Wellington seniors, and' tho Wellington juniors aro 231 ahead of tho Canterbury juniors, ■ Following- aro details of the scoring: SENIOR.
