DEATH FROM BURNS
STOCKING CIRCUMSTANCES.

Beujnmin were disclosed at the inquest this mornRitchie deposed that ;he was called at 5.30' o'clock on Sunday morning, and found the sufferer outside on the street, the only clothing remaining on her body being a piece of burnt singlet. Her body wns extensively bnrnrd, and Mrs. Benjamin was then unconscious. On entering the house he found her husband asleep in bed, and apparently no one in the residence had witnessed the fatality. A yard or two from where the doctor found his patient were a coat and slip''"fedical testimony from the hospital, to which the deceased was immediately removed, showed that though she regained consciousness she was suffering intense pain, and succumbed during tlie evening. ~,,,, , The husband of deceased stated that his wife was accustomed to ,gn'" up. during the night to make tea and such-like drinks at her gas ring. She retired to "bed TVIiU him at about 10.30 p.m.. and was clothed in a flannelette nightdress. The Coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical testimony, and added that there was no evidence f.-> show how deceased's nightdress became ignited.
