DEATH OF A WATERSIDER
BODY "FOUND IN WASH-HOUSE. ' An inquest was held yesterday morning by Mr. P. L. Hollings, S.M., row the causo of death of Robert Richard Henry Thomas, bO years of age, a watersider, whoso body was found in a washhouse- at 54 Haining Street on Saturday morning. , , , , , Dr. Pi ,F. M'Evcdy said he attended Thomas on December 23 for an injury to a kneo received while loading frozen mutton on tho Raranga. The injury was a slight one, and had nothing to do with thf mnu's death. Witness nado a pietmortem examination of tho Ixxly, and found that the lungs adhered to the cbest wall, caused by old'pleurisy. Iho right sido of the heart was dilated and full of blood clots. Death was apparently due to heart'failure induced ly » o adherent condition of the lungs to the chest-wall. ' , John Page, labourer, residing at i Bute Street, said ho had occasion to go *:wn a right-of-way on Saturday last in limning Street. He found the nody of He deceased lying en tho floor f.f «■ washhouse, and informed the police of tile William .V.ueh stated that Thomas had occupied a room ot .ft umbtidge Terrace, .vhc-re witness also resided. On occasions tin; deceased complained of tho state or his health, and was unable to work. Ho was a mamed man living opart from his wife. Constable William Henry, who iemoved the body to tho morgue said there wore-no nidations of a struggle, and there were no marks on tbc Lou.\. Tho Coroner's finding was m accordance with the medical evidence.
