Accordingly he set about getting in a supply, but lie was only successful in securing four pounds The following will represent the Pnlmerston Noj'th Bowling Club ot the -Dominion tournament which opens at (Christ.chitrch on January B:—'W. Jones, H. Sc-ifert, N. II Nash, and ,T. A. Nash (a.). Tho Mannwntii Cpntre is holding a tournament at Palinerston North next week, extending over three days, commencing on New Year's Day. -Amongst the clubs which have already entered teams from outside are Dannevirke, and from present information it h cxpectcd that entries will far excced I tho 0 '. 0 received at last rear's tournament. Although Christmas Eve passed off quietly, there were large numbers of people in town, and the motor-jars cf country visitors were very much in evidence. Tho business people generally appear thoroughly satisfied with the Christmas business, and it ig quite evident from the amount of money spent in luxuries that the ending of hostilities between tho Allies and the Huns considerably loosened tho purse-strings of many, and more money was spent in luxuries than has been tho (ase for tlio past four years. The weather both for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day was perfcct, and .this 'caused large numbers of people to visit the various seasid? iesorts on Christnm| Day. Accommodation at hll these places is taxed to its utmost, while in Palmerston itself every lied is taken up with visitors to the races, which opened at Awapuni oil Friday. Boxing morning broko dull with rain threatening, and during tho afternoon a few light showers fell.
