EXPLOSION OP CELLULOID IN A mm depot. London, December 24. Tlio fir© at Newcastle consnuied a film depot in tho centro of the city. An explosion of celluloid caused flames to leap up the well, of a lift to the top floor, and many girl employees were trapped. The firo escape was 100 short, and some jumped ninety feet into blankets and were saved, while others missed th? blankets, or were overcome by the smoke. Twelve died. Five members of a Cardiff family were burned to death, owing to tho collapse of their hedroom into the blaze beneath.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
