The official counts will cover the votes cast by means of seamen's ami absent voters' permits. The Act. under which the licensing poll was taken provides that in order to be carried ;n issue must poll an. absolute maioritv of the votes, cast, that is, nioro than half of the total votes. It also nrovidea that, in the event of no issue securing the requisite number of votes, Continuance shall be deemed to bo carried. The number of votes included in tho figures shown above is 522,655, and an absolute majority would bo 261,328. The Prohibition vote now recorded is 260,551), or 769 votes short of an absolute majority.
