FATAL FALL DOWN A SHAFT
MIKE MANAGER KILLED. A end fatality occurred at tho Dominion Consolidated Development Company's quartz mine at Wakamarina, Marlborough, on Sunday, whereby Mr. l,eonard Sidney Humphries lost his life. Mr. Humphries was a member of the firm of Messrs. Humphries Bros-.,. contractors, of Wenii\gton, but alxmt ten years ago went over to Marlborough to superintend the working of the Dominion Company's mine at Wakamarina. A Pros.? Association messages states that deceased's body was found head foremost down Iho shaft. The neck was broken in two places. It is surmised Mr. Humphries was inspecting tlio shaft, slipped, and fell a distance of forty I'oet. Tlio body was,quite cold when discovered. Ho was alone when tho accidcnl occurred.
