TERRIBLE MOTOR SMASH
WOMAN CUT TO PIECES BY''A TRAIN. By Telegraph-Press Association I Greymouth, December 10. A terrible accident happened about 6.40 this evening. A motor-car, driven by Mr. Watson, mine manager for tho Blackball Coal Company, was proceeding from Blackball to Greymouth, the occupants being Mr. Watson and his wife, and Mr. J. Sinclair and his wife. Tho party wero on their way to attend tho Allan Wilkio performance at Greymouth. When proceeding over a crossing near Ngahcre, an incoming train from Reefton, which was not noticed by Mr. Watson, struck the rear portion of tho car, causing a great smash. The ladies wero in the back seat of tho car, nnd Mrs. Watson was literally cut to pieces, death being instantaneous. Mrs. Sinclair was badly injured, her hip beiiig broken, and slw wis taken to the hospital. The male occupants had a miraculous escape, neither of them being injured.
