GREAT CONFETTI CARNIVAL. Judging by the programme arranged <nd the extensive preparations being l made, Lyall Bay at New Ypar time will ho the scene of the greatest carnival ever sejn by most New Zealanders. The procession, which' takes place on the opening day (New Year's" Day), will be a (Treat; feature. It will assemble at tho Kilbirnie Reservoand proc;ed to Lyall Bay via tho main tram route. Tli6 largest order for confetti for New Zealand has been cabled to S.vdnev, and the public should thoroughly eniov the fun of confetti fighting. This by the way is something new to Wellington. Substantial prizes will ho awarded for the best displays in tho many, sections, including decorated vehicles and motors of all kinds, also cycles; grouns of pierrots; impersonations of great generals; queens in cars; peace displays; fancy costumes; displays by friendly societies, and trades; costumed quartets on foot; impersonation of leading picture arlists; impersonation of the ex-Kaiser, and many other classes. Tho question of catering for th? h'uire concourse of people thai: will be at L'yo'l Bay on January 1, 2, and 3 has not been lost sight of. and special arrangements are being made to effectively deal with it. Tha whole of the arrangements in connection with the carnival are well forward, and it seems that all that is required to make tho affair a (huge success) is fine weather.
