ADDRESSES IN HAW.KE'S BAYBy Telegraph—Press Association. Vt/aipawa, December 9. Sir Joseph Ward passed through Waipawa this afternoon en route , to Hastings. He received a most enthusiastic welcome, a call for cheers being responded to vigorously. Sir Joseph Ward spoko for about half an hour, stressing tho need for a strong Government to carry tho ship of State through tho troublous times ahead. lie expressed his firm boiief that the Liberals would at the general olection again come into thcii own.

' Napier, December i). Sir .loMpli Ward arrived in Hastings by motor-car this evening, and addressed a very large audience in the Municipal Theatre. He received, a gcod hearing and was seldom interrupted. Sir Joseph Ward spoko for two hours, dealing with subjects upon which he has already spoken in other centres, and the platform laid down in his manifesto upon seceding from the National Government. He spoke- at length on his proposals for nationalisation affecting the coal mines, a Suite bank, .hydro-electric schemes, and the U'elliiigton'-Lyftelton ferry sjrvice. At tho conclusion a. vota of thank? and confidence met with nil equal number of aves and noes, but it was declared carried by the .Mayor (Mr. G. Ebbett), who occupied the chair.
