NEW ST. PATRICK'S COLLEGE
TO BE BUILT AT MIRAMAR, An interesting announcement was made by Archbishop. Redwood at the annual prize-giving at St. Patrick's College yesterday to the effect that new college buildings would Shortly, be erected at Miramar. Steps, lie stated, we already being taken to plan awil form the grounds, and he hoped beforo long to sc.? a commencement made with, tho walls of the building. The larger area of land that would be available at Miramar for the college would, (ho felt sure, bo 'a great boon to the students.'
Inquiries made subsequently by a Dominion reporter went to show that an area of 100 acres, lying between Scots College 'and the tunnel, has acquired for the new St. Patrick's College. Tho land comprises at present a Chinese marked garden, and a detailed survey has already been compblod. 'It is hoped- that in tiiio near future a start will bo made with the plans ifor the new college.- With a view to taking full advantage of the largo area of land available for the purposes of tho college, 11 v. S. Hurst Scager, of Christchureh, the well-known town-planning authority, has been retained to draw* up a scheme in accordanco with modern 'town-planning methods.
