Long presided. Tho candidate spoke oh'similar lines to his address at Silvevst'reom, and a vote of thanks and' confidence was carried unanimously.

MR. PIUTCHARD AT" LOWER HUTT. Mr D. K ;Tritehard {ofh'cial Labour candidate) addressed about four hundred electors of the Lover Hutt at the Town Hail last night, and was accorded a patient hearing. The chair was' occupied by Mr. J. Churehouse, who appealed to the audience to contribute to the collection to be. taken up to support the Labour candidate lighting funds. Mr. Pritehard reviewed the arguments of the other candidate against tli:- Labour plalfurai. None of these men had produced .any argument dealing with his policy. It wno one thing to deal 'in personalities and another to grossly misrepresent ami misconstrue the policy of the Labour Tarty. The Labour Tarty stood for the proper and legitimate sottleniont of the laud, and he wanted to know where there was anything extreme in. this. The Liberal candidate had told them that under the haliour Tarty they.would never get a penny more than the Labour Tarty valuers'' valuation for their property. It' was, a gross slander to call the valuers any party's valuers irrespective of the party in power. They wore State valuers. , He submitted that without destroying the timber of the country there was' plenty of land suitable for' settlement, and it was unnecessary to send men and women out into virgin bush and liuroaded areas. The-Liberal candidate had said, that land aggregation wa.i going on and that it could ba stopped by. any party who had the. ■will to stop it. Neither the Liberal or Reform patiies had..the will to stop.it! > advocated sending the land aggregator In prison. It. was the way to deal with | aw-bt'eakers. A voice: "They sent •P.uldy' Webb there!" The remainder of Mr. Tritchard's remarks was on tlie line.vof previous addressee. At the conclusion the candidate was accorded a vote of thanks.
