Fors'ter, Under-Secietnry to the War Office, whether he would make a statement in regard to the trial of F/ither O'Donnell. Mr. Forster said ho was not in a position to make a statement at present, but would do so as Koon as possiblo.
Mr. Dovlin asked Mr. Bonar Law whether, in view of the vital importance of the matter to the honour and dignity of the Army and in deference to the immensely indignant feeling by Australian people, it was treating tho House fairly for the Under-Secretary to give such an answer.
.Mr. Bonar Law: "I quito realise the (Seriousness of the matter; but ;t is impossible for the Government to answer the question until the matter is inquired into.''
Mr. Da.l7.iel asked whether the House would have an opportunity of discussing the matter.
Mr. Bonar Law: "Tho House should await the report. The Government quito realises that (he matter must be sifted to tho bottosi."
Mr. MneVeagh asked whether the officers concerned would be suspended from duty.
Mr...Bonar Law: "We don't condemn people without trying them." .
