HUT LICENSING COMMITEE

QUARTERLY MEETING. The quarterly meeting of tho Hutt Licensing Committee was held yesterday, when there were present the chairman (Mr. W. G. Kiddcll) and Messrs. J. Cotton, W. T. Cotton, M. Welch, and J.'W. M'Ewan. Tho chairman said that the polico port showed that, with one exception, aIL the hotels were being well conducted. Tho exception was tho Family Hotel, the licensee'of which had ban convicted for Sunday trading. Complaints had also been made about the rooms and con-, voniences, which were not kept in a condition which the travelling public would like. It was necessary to have these places suitable for public use. Tho licensee, should take warning "la conviction, as tho committee* at its annual meeting might object to a transfei if asked for on the ground' that he was not a suitable person to conduct a public house. The following transfers were granted: Central Hotel, Petone, from Harriot Maddock to A. C, .Wright; Trentham Hotel, from R. I. Low to P. Cosgrove.
