PLAN'S FOR NEW STEAMERS, (Rec. December 3, 7.40 p.m.) London, November 29. The P. and 0. Company's annual report states that the company has contracted with tho Harland and Wolf shipbuildings yards to supply five steamers suitable for the Australian emigrant and cargo sorvice, via the Cape. The vessels will bo 1.1,800 tons each, and will bo called the Ballarat, Bulranald, Baradine, Barrabol, and Bendigo. Tho company has also contracted with the Armstrongs, for a mail steamer of 15,800 tons. Passenger steamers will burn oil to facilitate loading.

The company, after placing ,£450,000 to the contingent fund for overhauling steamers badly knocked about by the war, and ,£200,000 to the reserve, has a credit balance of .£651,257. The sum of ,£115,230 has been carried forward — Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
