PALMERSTON RESERVES
VISITED BY SIR FRANCIS BELL. By Telegraph.—Special. Correspondent. Palmerston North, December 2. Advnntago was taken of the presenco of Sir Francis Bell, Minister, of Education, at Palmerston North, to-day, to show liim the reserves, of which the town is justly proud, The Minister was iaken bv the Mayor air. J. A. Nash) to the recently-established municipal bowline and croquet-ground, and ho was agreeablv surprised at the manner' in which thev had lieen laid out by Sir. Black, the" borough curator. Afterwards Sir Francis Bell visited tho esplanade and the new Victoria Drive formed alongside it. The (lowers and crooners over tile arches are now looking e.t their liest, and the Minister expressed himself as delighted with the general layout mid profusion of flowers, tree ferns, etc. After seein" the Square, which was a blaze of colour, set in the verdure of the liwns. th° Minister congratulated the Mayor and people on having such up-to-date recreation" reserves, and said he had no idea previously that Palmerston was so beautiful.
