DE. NEWMAN AT KILBIRNIB SCHOOL. Dr. A. K. Newman addressed a meeting at Kilbiriiie Schoolroom Inst evening. The speatar said Parliament was dissolved, and he was rid longer M.P., though lie hoped on Decsmber 17 to be again an M.P.'. The candidate said the Government 3iad put money on the Esttniates to miike a road from the Main trunk railway to tho site of a future mountain house on Euapehu. This future fine lioliday rest and play ground was only a few hours by rail from Wellington. The volcanic scenery was magnificent, and it would, cost little time and money to reach. Dr. Newman said BOnie bfanchee of tho CJivil Service 'nad not had as good an increase of pay and bonuses as others. This was wrong, and these unfortunate classes should.. be raised to tho same level as the others. Mr. J; J. Clark, J.!?., of ICilbirnie, was in tile ohair. A vote of thanks and confidonce, proposed by an elector and seconded by.a lady, was carried unanimously ivith acclamation, and tbs meeting was absolutely fi'ee from noise and; interruption.
