KITCHEN CABINETS
I envv our Canadian cousins because thev have faced the problem of Jabotir-Sf-vinir in the home. Most of all I envy them their kitchen cabinots. Think of the liiaitt that is wasted, when cooking, just in fetching things—the countless journovs to tlio oiii cupboard and shelves round British kitchens mid Sculleries. Tho Canadian housewife can buy an attractive cabinet which holds her stores of all kinds. All cooking utensils may be kept in it. It lias a flour bin, which at tho touch of a spring comes down -just to the level of the worker's hands. It has an enamelled porcelain table, which otitis out. on which to make pastry, and thiri docs not want continual serubbini; like pits'.ry boards. Just in front of vou is a convenient rack, oit which to fix the recipe you are following. There is a place for cookery books and recipes and files for bills, aiifl a special fixture at the end to hold a mincing machine. Given a kitchen cabinet, the housewife needs only a. jug of water and she can litart work. She need never stir, save to take things to her stove. Or, as the cabinets are fitted on easy-running castors, she may move it to thi> stove and never have to step across tho kitchen. A Canadian friend observed to me that she could do better without her husband than hi , ! , kitchen cabinet. Why is there no such time ana labour-saving contrivance on the British market? I have asked at furnit-.ire ihups and been promptly r,hown n dresser with a plate-ruck as the British substitute. I can see. that in years to come the kitchen cabinet will be as common in our kitchens as motorcars arc in our garages, liut what a:i niienin? for an nntscprising British manufacturer! Here is an article that every housewife would love—that even every husband would appreciate—an admirable iresent for tho latter-day bride who am u-ct so litlle domestic help- They are Bold bv Sens of thousands in Canada and the l<'nite« Shite. As soon as I can, J intend to buy imo myself if anyone is enterprising enmigh Iα import them. But why shouldn't there bo British kitchen cabinets? ScnioHmcs I think nur furniture ina'.iiifasturers would do well lo litko into partnership some women with brniii-.-, jtiot to tell them what we need in our homes.—VJß., in the "Daily Mail."
