CAMP ENTERTAINMENT FUND

CLOSED ACTIVITIES. A ineetinjr of the Camp Entertainment Committee was held in the Dominion dinners' Institute last evening. Mr. 11. Darroch Cchairin«n) presided. Tho third and final report of tho work carried out bv the. committee, as presented bv Mrs. Coleridge, was as follow:— "Tho committee was formed in February, 191 C, .when difficulties began to arise in arranging for transport of concert parties to entertain the sokiicre in Trenthnm Citmp. The committee coninrised representatives from the Church of England. Koman Catholic Church, Sal-, ration Army, Victoria League, and the y.if.C.A. Jlr. Vurney was elected chairman. Mrs. Coleridge lion, secretary, and Mr. B. J)arroch lion, treasurer. On the denarture of Jlr. Varney for Trance, .Mr. Darroch was appointed chairman. Mrs. Flaiuttian and Miss Francis acted as seerotaries on two occasions during tho abGMico of Mrs, Coleridge, During its ODerations accessions to tho committee wero trained in tho shape of Mrs. Mueller's concert parly and the "Cheer-oh fiirls." Voluntary help was given.by the Hutt Patriotic. Society, which contributefi .£5 a month to the expenses. Alwut 350 concerts had been arranged for. and at least 80,000 soldiers entertained. The totnl receipts of the committee amounted to .£Bl7 ss. 5d., of which .17S1 13s. Id. was expended in motor biro for the performers. Printing and advertisini totalled J32S 7s. !)d. The neriod of usefulness of the funu having c.ime to an end, it was proposed to ham! thn biilanco in hand, about £3(1, to the Y.M.C.A.. which is nov,; providing the necessary concerts at Trenthain J.lospi-1 tal."

Sincere thanks are expressed to those who cave their services in tho concerts nil through the war, to. all those who sunplied cars, to the auditors (Messrs. Hold and Arcus), the Y.M.C.A. for free use ot rooms for meetings, and the Press, and to all who assisted.
