AMOKURA ATHLETIC SPORTS
The annual athletic snorts gathering of the training-ship Amok'ura was held on Anderson Park yesterday, in the presence of a number of interested spectators. All the events were keenly contested, and the prizes were presented by Mrs. Barnsdale, wife of the commander. The results of the various events were as follow :— 100 yds. Open.—Morris, 1; Hughes, 2. lOOvds. Small Boys.-Gouk, 1; Millar. 2. 75vds. Petty Oilicew—Morris, 1; M'Kenzie. 2. Throwing Cricket Ball—Arnold, 1 (distance ISSfU High Jump—M'Kenzie, 1; Morris, 2. High Jump, Small Boys—Millar, 1. lOOvds. Staff Race—Mr. Knox, 1; Captain Barnsdale, i. 44flvds. Handicap, Open.—Harrison, 1; Smithson. 2; Herbert, 3. Potato and Bucket Race—Lever, 1; White. 2. Watch Relay Rnce.-Won by port tfatch. Hop, Step, and Jump—Arnold, 1; Morris. 2. Sack Race—Gould, 1; Herbert, 2. Obstacle Race.—Holmes, 1; M'Kenzio, 2. Andrews. 3. Wheelbarrow Race—M'Kenzie, 1; M'Nabb. 2. Tiii*-of-War.—Won by starboard watch. Three-lcggetf Race—Wright and Herbert. 1. Boot Pur/.le Race.-Whyto, 1; Chenery. 21 „ . Consolation Race—Wright, 1; Haginson. 2. Mr. Knox acted as starter; Mr. Cox, judge; Mr. Campbell, time-keeper and secretary; and Mr. Power, handicapper.
