DOMINION AWARD SOUGHT. The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) presided yesterday over n conference of representatives of local hodies and companies owning tramways which was called for, consultative purposes 'before discussing th" points at issue with the representatives of the employees' unions, as emhodied in the New flc'nland Tramway Employees' Federation. 'Chore were nrescnt renresentatives from Auckland, AVellington, Clirislchnrch, Dunedin, Inverenrpill, Wanganni, New Plymouth. Roslvn, Knifcorni (Dunedin), and the Kelburn-Karori Tramway Company. Tlio employees a.ro claiming increased wages, an imnrovemont in conditions, and the establishment of one award for the whole of tho Dominion. The conference is to meet the representatives of tho federation to-morrow.
