ALLAN WILICIE SEASON. "Tho Midnight Wedding" was played by tho Allan Wilkio Company before an appreciative audience last evening. There was one change in tho cast. Owing to an indisposition on the part of Mr. Henri Dore, tho comedy rolo of Bobo was enacted by Mr. Felix Bland, who brought out the humour of tho part very well indeed. The drama, with its tingling military spirit and many dramatic situations, went, wilh a good swing from start to finish, Mr. Wilkio, ns tho heroic Paul Viilmar, and Miss Fredisivyde Hunter-Watts being especially effective. "The Midnight Wedding" will be played for two more nights, and on Wednesday evening will give way to that sterling old comedy, "The School for Scandal," in which Mr. Allan Wilkio will figure as Charles Surface, 51 iss Hunter-Watts as Lady Teazle, and Mr. Henri Dore as Sir Peter Teazle. "1L THOVATORE." iA nnisTfll event that is being looked forward to by lovers of grand opera is tho performance in the Town Hall to-night of Verdi's masterpiece "II Troratore,' in dor the baton of Mr. H. Temple White. Tho irresistible magic of Verdi's music never fa : ls to appeal. "11 Travatore" more than any other grand opera contains ninny well-known and popidnr numbers, including tho celebrated "Miserori" duet, "Home lo our Mountains, the Count's great lines aria "11 Balen," the bright anvil chorus of the Gipsies, Mrnrito's sp'ritod air "Di Qnella Pirn." the chorus of Nuns, and many other wellknown airs. In their selection of prinoinal? the society has been fortunate. Miss Teresa M'Enroe will appear in the port of Leonora, and Miss Eileen Driscoll will sing the dramatic music of Azucenn. The part of the Count di Luna has been allotted to Mr. R. G. Blow, while Signor Lucie.n Cesaroni will bo heard as Fernndo. The tenor part of Manr'co Tvill be sung by Mr. Hubert E. Carter, who will appear for tho fiTst time to-right: before a Wellington audience. Mr. Carter has lately taken the rart of Faust in Gounod's opera in Auckland, ond also the leading part in Ros£ sini's "Moses in Egypt."
