Messrs. Wright, Stenlienson and Co. Ltd. report having held their annual cattle fair at llasterton on November 18, when they offered a heavy yarding, consisting mainly of well-bred station ■ lines. The large entry of over 2500 head severely taxed the accommodation of the Colombo Road yards, and Messrs, A. J. Cooper and 00. Ltd. offered the use of their adjoining yardß for the overflow. Owing to tho widespread shortage of feed, the usual outside competition was very iittfe in evidence, and prices ruled in accordance. Vendorß. however, in most cases, met the market with the result that the greater . proportion of tho yarding was sold. Prices ruled as under:—Fat bullocks, £21 2fl. 6d.. £22 2s. 6d. to £25 155.; light fat cows.. £11 to .£l3; fat heifers, £8 2s. 6d., £9 15s. to £10 os.; 3-year Btcers, £12.75. to £13 155.; 2-year steers, £10 to £12 65.; yearling steers, to £5; 2-year heifers, to £6 125.; yearling heifers, £6; coloured 4-year stcei'B, £5 to £6 75.; 2-year empty dairy heifers, £5 los. to £8 55.; store cowb, £3 to £8; forward cows, to £11 175.; m.e.' yearlings, £2 10s, to £4; hulls, £10 7s. 6d. to £12 10s, A good yarding of sheep was also offered, and although most lots' wore passed at auctiofi thev s'ere eventually sold al'prices quoted :-Fat shorn ewes, 35a. to 38b.; woolly 4-tooth -wethers, to 405.; woolly ewes, 345. 2d. to 385.; m.s, 2-tooths in the w001,.. 30s. .
