« — ■ \ ■' SLAUGHTERMEN CEASE WORK. Uy Telccrauh—Press Association. Auckland, November 19. Tho Auckland slaughtermen announced t.heir intention this morning to join the butchers' strike. Tlifiy compriso twentyfivo men, part at Hollaby's abattoirs and part At tho city abattoirs. In consequence of the slaughtermen's strike tho Westfield fat stock sales have been postponed indefinitely, though there was a large yarding. Arrangements had to bo mode for tho grazing of the stock. FROZEN MEAT RELEASED. Auckland, November 19. Another development has occurred in connection with tho butchers' striko. As a result of the cessation of work by tho slaughtermen, instructions wero given for tho release of frozen meat at Southdown to supply tho "future needs of tho cify. This meat is tho property of tho Imperial Government, but there are standing instructions that it may be drawn upon if required for local needs. The freezing chamber hands, however, declined to shift tho meat for tho Auckland market, and quitted the premises. This difficult)' was overcome by clerks and Department heads undertaking to /hift tho meat into the trucks, and no difficulty is cxpectod in obtaining supplies from this source.
