Major-General Sir Edward Chaytor, who commanded the Australasian Mounted Division in Palestine, is at present 111 Wellington.

At its. meeting last evening the Victoria Collgro Council passed a resolution recording its deep regret at the doath in London of Mr. J. W. Joynt, M.A., for many years liegistrar of tho University of' Sew Zealand.

Tho death occurred at 'Wellington yesterday of Mr. Kobert Pettit, who, as a member of the staff of tho Union Company's eoal department, was a familiar Wro on tho waterfront.
