PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Petone Borough Council met Inst night, when there were present: Tho •Mayor (Mr. J. V,', M'Ewan) and Councillors iE. Tovey, G. Cook, 1). Bcdingfield,' A. Anderson, W. Kay. J. Kyle, and J. Churchouse. Tho Chief Engineer, New Zealand Railways, wrote forwarding a copy of Gazette notice vesting a portion of the Railway Reserve at Koro Koro.Road in the council for road purposes. A letter was received from tho secretary, Wellington Croquet Association, asking for tlio use of tho municipal croquet and tennis lawns for tho purpose of playing croquet during the forthcoming tournament, which is to start in February, and will Inst for two days. Tho request was granted. The district health officer wrote intimating that ho wa9 of opinion that, provided Mr. l'izer guarantees that no nuisance will arise, permission should be granted for the brewery to be used as a. tannery for a period of three months, Mr. l'izer to remove at the endof that time all new buildings which are now nnder construction.
