DISGRACEFUL SCENE IN DUNEDIN

Dunedin, November 17. lhere was a disgraceful scene in Maclasgan Street on Saturday night, when the uolico went to arrest a man. SubinsDector Mathicson eaid it wne tho most URly crowd he had ever encountered, As a result three men appeared in the court to-dav—one charged with disorderlv behaviour while drunk, witlrresistin<j a constable while in the execution of hie dutv. and using threatening behaviour, wherebv a breach of tho peaco was occasioned. Tho second was charged with usinsr indecent language, with obstructing tho constable, and damaging a motor-car. Thn third man was charged with obstructing tho constable, with damaging his clothes and an umbrella, the property of tlio Sub-Inspector of Police, and alfO with assaulting tho sub-inspector. Tho latter added that the polico received no assistance from civilians, althoueh sorao, holding high positions were standina bv. Ho added that between, fiftv antf a hundred people took part in tho disturbance. Tho three accused were remanded. *
