AUCKLAND BUTCHERS' STRIKE
1 LIVELY SCENES IN THE STREETS POLICE MAINTAIN ORDER B» Tulegranh—Presi Aiioei&tlon. Auckland, November 15. The butchers went on strike to-day, ■but a number of shops did business as Usual. Over two hundred unionists 'marched from Hobson Street to Hellaby's byshop in Shortland Street, where the manager and the manager of a branch were working. The strikers "counted out" Uio manager. A plate-glass window in the shop was broken through some of tho crowd bein;? pushed against it. Twenty-seven police soon arrived from the central station, and a detachment of mounted police came in motorcars, and maintained order. The strike is pretty general in the city and suburbs.
