BOXING
» The committee of tho local Boxing Association met on Friday evening, Mr. R. AV., M'Villy presiding over a full attendance. Tho sub-committee set up reported that, arrangements had been completed for the visit of the Australian middleweight champion ".Tommy" Uren to meet Heeney at the Town Hall on December 4. In confirming this action tho chairman said that all'lovers of tho sport would bo pleased to hear that the ell'orts to get such an exponent as Uren to come to appear in New Zealand had been successful, and although tiie inducement offered to him had to bo substantial ho felt suro that the public gonorally would support tho association, who necessarily would have to charge higher jwiccs than usual. Uren had recently beaten the American champion Gabby, a man with an international reputation, and his appearance here was undoubtedly the most important engagement the association has as yet undertaken. After discussion it was decided to put on three amateur preliminaries, as follow: Mealo v. R. Mlvinlay, Taylor v. Leslie, Nixon v. Daley, each bout of four two-minute rounds.
