Richardson, and LioutenantColonel B. Myers. The report, stated that about four of the men appeared to bo normal and fit for discharge, but the medical suiwrinteiidont had assured the officors that it was not safe to judge tho condition of patients on a casual visit. Lieutenant-Colonel Myers, who had had cxnorlcnoo nbrond, was satisfied thnt the treatment was good, and compared favourably with tho treatment in similar hospitals in tho United Kingdom. To discharge uucurort cases lo their homes or to unsuitable- hospitals would not be m the interests of the patients. General Hiehnrdson added thnt ho had ascertained that no soldier-patient was detained a day lonper than wis absolutely necessary. None of the patients at Porirua could have been satisfactorily treated at/ anv other institution than a mental hospital.
