Dr. Whitaker said they should see the building and ascertain if it were suitable for a St. Helens Home, and he aCso thought the member for the district should press the necessity of a St. Helens Home. Sir 'James Wilson, as on previous occasions, said it was tho duty of the Government to establish a home. He was opposed to the appointment of a committee to go into the jnat-' ter, because in doing so they would give a way the principle that it was the dnlv of the Government to establish such l<nnics.
