AUSTRALIA'S WAR GRATUITY
QUESTION OF CASHING , THE BONDS. Melbourne, November 13. It appears that Mr. Hughes'e statement regarding tho payment of soldiers' gratuities in cash was mado as tlio outcome of conferences with financial institutions and promises by largo employers that they were willing to take the bonds and cash them. It is stated that the- bulk of the soldiers realise that cash payment will mean serious financial embarrassment to tho Government, and tho men aro prepared to accept nonnegotiablo bonds. The Federal Treasurer is now negotiating with the bankers.—Press Assn.
