News has been received that Mr. Roderick Carr, of Peilding, who has been in charge of the British and Russian sections of the Air Fleet in Russia, lias been awarded the- Distinguished Flying Gross and the Order of St. Stanislaus of Russia with crossed swords. Miss M'C'ardlo has been appointed as teacher at Mangatainoka. School, and Mr.' Sankey-to Kohuui. An outbreak of fire in a. shed on Mr. B. H. Just's property in College Street West, l'almerston North, caused damage to the extent of about .ClO. Mr. A. J. Graham, of i l'almerston North,- has been re-elected representative of the Wellington district on tho New Zealand Pharmacy Board. Mr. Louis Seifert, of Palmerston North, has left on an extended tour of the Comnionwertlth of Australia. He was ac? companied by his nephew, Laurie. Seifert. A public reception, in which returned soldiers will take part, will bo given to General Sir Edwai'd Chaytor on his arrival in Palmerston North on Monday next. Tlio Kairanga County Council has decided to take a poll in December'to raise o loan of ,£IO,OOO for the construction of permanent roads, such ronds to be tarred and bituminous. The sum will be allocated as follows:—Foxton line, ;K!SGO; Eangitikei line, oC3500; Napier road, .1:3000.
