News has been received that Mr. Roderick Carr, of Peilding, who has been in charge of the British and Russian sections of the Air Fleet in Russia, lias been awarded the- Distinguished Flying Gross and the Order of St. Stanislaus of Russia with crossed swords. Miss M'C'ardlo has been appointed as teacher at Mangatainoka. School, and Mr.' Sankey-to Kohuui. An outbreak of fire in a. shed on Mr. B. H. Just's property in College Street West, l'almerston North, caused damage to the extent of about .ClO. Mr. A. J.
