RAIN INTERFERES WITH THE

GATHERING

The- thirty-fifth annual athletic sports meeting of St. Patrick's College was held at Newtown Park yesterday. The weather conditions wore very pleasant until well on in the afternoon, when the wind went round to the south, and heavy hail and rain fell. Although only half-a-dozen events remained to be disposed of, the sodden state of the ground made a postponement imperative. This was most unfortunate, and will necessitate the uncoiiciluded races being run at somo time in the near future. Owing to the official stop-watch 'becoming a "casualty" about; half-way through the proceedings, it was not possible to record the timo in several of the ovents. The sports were witnessed by friends and relatives of the boys, ns wd.l as a number of the clergy. Among the visitors was His Grace Coadjutor-Archbishop O'Shea.
