COMPETITIONS SOCIETY
The musical and elocutionary competitions, to commence at tho Town Hall on Thursday next, will bo tho largest festival ever held in the Dominion.. 'Iho entries, which constitute a rccord, total over ISOO,' being 300 in excess of those received last year. They Micludo leading amateurs from all parts of New Zealand. Tho Executive Council have obtained tbo services of tho most competent judges obtainable. These are Mr. Harold Gregson, Auckland (music), Mr. John 11. Hopkins, Melbourne (elocution), Mr. N. Mackenzie Forbes, Wanganui (national dancing), and Mrs. W. _ L. liotlicnberg, Wellington (fancy dancing), Mr Harold Whitli'.o being tho official accompanist. In view of tho very largo number of entries, tliree sessions will bo hekl each day in l»th the. Concert Chambor and Town nail. Tho designs sent in for the society's program mo cover aro now on view at Messrs. Charles Begg and Co., Manners Street.
