LOAN OF .£IIO,OOO. The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) reported lo tho City Council lust night that a loan of ,(!110,000 had been raised nt a very satisfactory rate of interest for the purpose of adjusting the accounts in connection with street widening and drainage extensions in the outlying districts. 'Che money would also help in patting the milk supply undertaking on its own working basis so far as the capital account was concerned. Under tho Housing Bill before Parliament the council would be able to raise money for building schemes at -11 per cent. When Parliament adjourned he thought the council should wail on the. Minister for the purpose of obtaining funds for its housing project.
