THE MAORIS IN THE WAR
A GLORIOUS BECOKD. A list giving an indication of the services of the Maori Contingent during the war was laid on the table of the House- of Hepreseiitativos yesterday afternoon by the Minister for Defence. In moving that tho paper' should be printed, Sir James Allen «iid that he felt Hiiro that' every paltehn. citi/.en of the Dominion would feel proud of the. services rendered by tho Maoris. Tho return gives tho names of the eokliers of all ranks who lost their lives, wero wounded, decorated, or mentioned in dispatches. It shows that 110 were killed in action, and 172 died of wounds or fiicltnefs. Fifty-seven gained decoration's and 19 were mentioned in dispatches. Tho .list of wounded covers nine and a half closely typewritten foolscap sheets, and the number ia G77.
