Gunson, who is contesting tho Eoskill seat as an Independent candidato (says the "New Zenlund Herald"), stntinir that as he has found it impossible to secure a steamer passage, ho has been detained in America, and therefore will not reach Auckland before tho general elections. Mr. Gunson, who left Auckland on. July 1, had expected to return in_ November/ He loft a signed nomination paper for Eoskill, and as his return has' been delayed the campaign will lis conducted on his behalf by his supporters. Committees have been appointed throughout the district, and meetings will bo held at. the various, centres. A manifesto received by cable message from Mr.' Gunson' will be circulated, and will be read at the various meetings. It is probable, states an exchange, that Mr. G. D. Macfarlane will be nominated bv the Labour Party, for {he Pahiatua seat. It is stated by a contemporary that Mr. Ben Eoborts, a small fanner of tho Olareville district, will contest tiie Wairarapa seat in the interests of the Labour Party. THE MAESDE'N SEAT.
