The "Dally Chronicle's" Bedin correspondent states that the Berlin Government is organising a monster lottery, whereby it will create ten millionaires annually (luring the next eighty years, in order' to 'raise ,£250,000,000 at 5 per cent, interest,, paid when the covtifimtcd are drawn for repayment. There- will lie nineteen thousand prizes annually, aggregating fifty million marks, of which ten, will be of a million marks each. During the- eightv years currency of this loan 9,875,000,600 marks 1 will be distributed as prizes. Tho deferred payment of interest is intended to encourage thrift, while subscriptions will bo repayable on demand, with interest, after twenty years, giving it the character of insurance.—Aus.-N.Z.
