I PEOPLE'S DAY. (By Telegraph—Special Correspondent.' Hastings, October 23. - Glorious weather prevailed to-day lor j people's day of tho llawke's Dny A. and | P. Society's Show, and in consecjuenco ' the attendance was larger than for years. The judging was continued, the horse 1 ' division being more in evidence. There was not strong competition in tho thoroughbred section, and only in one case was there more than one entry. This was. the yearling lilly class, three promising young animals entering the ring. ' Tho iirst award went to tho ff. J. Douglas Estate, Mr. T. H. Lowry securing second and third. The latter exhibitor was awarded lirst for yearling colt foaled since August 1, 1918, and Mr. J. Landels received a first anard for tliree-jonr-old ; filly foaled since August 1, 1916. The i championship in the hack section was i. awarded Mr. G. D. Bentson's Uncle Sam. In the draught section' the entiro championship was conf-errea' npon Mr. W. 13. Campbell's Silver Prince (imp.), which 6cored first in class for four-year-olds'or "upwards, E. Falloon's lan M'Uae being second. Somo good onirics came forward in the saddle horse division, P. 0. Ward securing iirst for entire best calculated to improve the breed of saddle horses, whilst D. Lidoington was first arid G. M'Ddiiald second for mare ' in foal or foal at foot best cnlculated i to produce saddlo hordes. The pony entry was very large, and it is quite evident that while the parents are going in for motor-cars they are providing the | youngsters with small horses. Some of tho animals showed great quality. The following awards were made in the dairy division:—Grade Shornhorn cow in milk: J. Barry, 1; Mrs. J. Wall, 2.
