ALLEGED THEFT FROM HOTEL

In tlio Magistrate's Court David Hurray, alias Jackson, and Marie Hill were charged with the theft of .£3O in notes from the cashbox of. the Trocadero Hotel. Evidence was given that accused belonged to Wellington, and stayed at the Trocadero during a visit to Christchurch. The police alleged that accused admitted the theft, and surrendered JC29. Murray stated ho had been tricked into signing a statement, admitting the theft. Hill said the constablo told her that if the money was returned the complainant would not projecutc. Accused pleaded not guilty, arid were committed for trial.
