HOSTILE SPEECH: IN THE DIE'J. (Rec. October 20, 8.35 p.m.; i New York, October' 13. A dispatch from Tokio states that Baron Funakoshi, Leader of the Opposition in the Japanese Diet, speaking m the Diet, said that if the Government wero forced to abandon the Japanese settlement in Kiaochau at the behest of other Powers, such action would constitute a violation of ,'fnpanese interests m international affairs. The welfare of tho nation demanded that Japan should not abandon that settlement.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable A-ssn.
