THE WAR GRATUITY
ALL PAYMENTS BEFORE CHRISTMAS. Greater expedition in the payment of the war inutility was suggested, by Mr. H. Poland (Ohineniuri) in the House ot. Representatives last evening. Mr. Poland said Unit accoiding to a published statement. the Defence Department hud paid jrmluities to 151*3 applicants in twenty days. He pointed out that at this rate the payments would take three years, and lie" asked if the Government could not hasten the process. Mr. Massey replied that members need not worry. Tho payments would all be made before Christmas. If Mr. Poland would place a question on the Order Paper, lie would receive soiic official figures in reply.
