THOENDON CLUB. At tho annual meeting of the Thorndon Swimming Club held inst night tie following motion was passed:—"'l hat the City Council bo urged to take steps immediately to'acquire land at Thornton for the purpose of establishing salt-water swimming balhs, it being -thought that tho proposal to establish tepid fresh, water baths in Tinnkori Road would be a useless expense, especially in view of tho fact that the 'fasmiin Street freshwater baths are not appreciated and are not a paying proposition, aikl that they havo not the same health-giving properlies as salt-water baths." It was further pointed out that Iβ Aro Baths aro already suffering from ■ congestion, and fli.it another salt-water oath is very urgently required. An influential r,ub-coimnittoe was set up to wait on tho Batlis Committee of the City Council to urge that the under--taking bo entered upon at onco.
