Mr. Newton King reports:—At TVaiwakaiho, on October 3, there was a fair jarding, most of which changed hands at ruling rates. Yearling heifers, £3 14s. to £4 155.: steers, £4 18. to £4 145.; 2-year empty heifers, £6 10s. to £7 155.; choice 15 month Jersey heifers, £6 10s to £7 155.; 2-year-old steers £6 ss. to £7. 10s.; store cows, £6 sa. to £9 55.; cows and, calves/ £9; bulls, £5 to £7. Dairy cattle were yarded in big numbers, Inquiry for good sorts being keen, a good sale Tesultmg. . Cows made £15 to £25; lato calvtr» aud poorconditioned calved sorts. £8 to £11 10s.; heifers (close up and calved), £13 to £18; ■others, £9 to £12. At Douglas, on October 6, cattle were yarded in fair rum bers, all of -which sold, a few pens of good 15-month cattle realising prices in advance of late rates; 15-month Jersey heifers, £6 2s. to £6 10s.; Hoistein heifers, £5 to £5 165.; mixed yearlings, £3 Us. to £4 le.; 2-year empty heifers, £6 15s. to £8; forward cows, £11 2s. 6d.; store do., £6 10s, to £8; 2-year steorc, £« 125.; 4-year-old .bullocks, £12 10s.: dairy heifers (close up), £10 to £12 10s.; later sortß, £7 15s. to £9; cowb, £10 to £12. At Stratford, on October 7, the Btore cattle yarding was small, prices generally not showing any change. Dairy cattle came forward in rig numbers, the quality en.the whole being poor, consequently inquiry was dull. A few fair quality cows made £15 to £26; best heifers, £12 to £17 10s.; -others, £/ 10s. upwards. At Oliato, on Octobor 6, a dairy herd was -offered on account of. Mr. It. 11. Gray. The cattle were a very nice line of Jersey-ShorLhorn sorts, in ■good nick, and mostly in lull profit, but contained a fair nunuier of aged uows. Buyers attended in strong numbers from ;all parts of the coast and a most satisfactory sale was made. Cow» made from £15 Ho £32, a few n-cond quality, backward sorts, £12 to £13 10s.; heifers (springing), £16 to £16 10d. ; calved, £17 10s.-to £22; very choice 45-month Shorthorn heifers, £8 15s. At li.glewood. on October 8, there was a sniaJl varding of store cattle, and everything 6old, inquiry proving, keen. Prices in mauy cases showed an advance.
