Offerings, however, are scarce, and the market seems baro of milling wheat. Oats aro firm, with very little offering, and chaff has firmed up to £& 1 ' ss. per ton for best bright heavy samples. .. Few potatoes are offering, mid sellers do not seem anxioiu to quit, though merchants have advanced their prices to .£8; 15s.
THE VINEYARDS
"Thera has been no -alteration in the. area under vineyards, which stands at •151 acres, says the annual report of the Agricultural Department. "The act-ing-vine and wine instructor] reports that owing to unseasonable weather experienced tho vintage in all parts,-of tho Dominion was quite a month late. Although the grapo crop was lighter, tho fruit was in fine condition owing to tho favourable autumn experienced, and should result in a good sample of wino being made. . It is estimated the yield of wine will bo 48,000 gallons, about onefifth less than that of 1918. At a conservative estimate of 4s. per gallon this represents a value of £%W. "Tho number of glasshouses in tho Dominion is 830. Tho inclement weather experienced during the growing season has also alfected the grape crop under glass-, which is estimated at 457,4051b., a considerable decrease as compared with tho previous year. This crop, based on •Is. 3d. per pound, represents a valuo of X 28.588."
