MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. ' The monthly - meeting of. the Hutt County Council was. held yesterday, Thero wore present the (Sir. P. G. Cooper) and Messrs. M. W. Welch, W. J. Howell, P. Cavanagh, W. Gallowav.'and J. Whitcman. ;'• ' • , -* In his monthly report the inspector of works (Mr. J.W.Cudby) state* that he had ■ inspected Cottle's .Up'ad, and found it in better condition than he'expected. He hud authorised an expenditure of ,£25, which should make it passable for the time, and he recommended a further expenditure of .£SO during the dry' season. The main road north of Upper Hutt to the foot of Murigaroa hill had been repaired, and was now in very good order. The southern, end of the riding was now being attended to, which, with parts.of the main road in Epuni riding, was in a very bad condition. The Day's Bay-Lowry Bay road was ndw. in very fair.order, likewise the Western Hutt Iload. The Paromata:Pahautanui road had been considerably improved, while the Pohautanui to Plimmftrton road was in very good order. There was u slight. improvement in the Hqrokiwi. Vnllev road, but it was still far from being what he wished it to be., The roads in Whareroa were all in fair to good condition. He recommonded.that the wooden bridge near the wharf- at Day's Bay bo renewed in concrete. Tho report and recomme'ndations were adopted.Other business,of a routine naturo was, disposed of. :■■
