THE JANUAEY TOURNAMENT. The monthly meeting of the executive of the Wellington Bowling Centre was held last evening, tho president (Mr. G. Hendry) presiding. Permission was granted the Eastbourne Club to hold -a rink tournament on its green on December 26-and 27, and the Lyall Bay Club on January 17 and 22. It was stipulated-by'tho meeting that the' prizes given should not exceed the value of M-'hi each trophy winner.'." Tho treasurer's statement disclosed that the expenditure during month had totalled .£4l 19s. 5d., leaving a credit balance of £22 12s. Gd. ' Arrangements were made for the centre tournament wltich is to be played- on January 1, 2, and 8.; Three games of 21 heads will, it was decided, be. played' on each of the thiwdays to be devoted to section play. It was decided "to embody in the conditions a proviso that if tho finals have not been played by Tuesday, January G, they may. if necessary, be postponed till after the Dominion tournament. Other conditions were adopted on the lines of those in operation at the previous tournament' ; Some discussion took place relative to trophies' for the tournament;' Messrs. Meadowcroft jind Allpbrt strongly' sup-' porting a motion that' the practice in vogue during the war of merely issuing the winners with certificates bo'adhered to. Ultimately 1 an amendment, which received the support' of tho president, was adopted allocating £2 10s: for the. first prize, arid <£1 ,10s. for'the second,' certificates also to be awarded.
