NELSON DAY
Nolson vDay, October 21, will bo celebrated by a patriotic gathering in the Town Hall during tho evening. The occasion is to be made one of grateful tri : bute to the triumph of British sea power. The predominance of tho British Fleet has, for the first time in history, been recognised by all peoples, excepting our late enemies, as a beneficent influence on tho affairs of humanity, _ "It seems fitting," declares the letter of invitation to the meeting issued by the Wellington branch of the Navy League, "that the joyful thanks of Britons throughout the Empire should find expression alike for tlio wonderful moral victory, which has enlightened the whole world, and for the material victory which, by the, Grace of God and with tho assistance of our gallant Allies, has been vouchsafed to the cause of freedom."
