SCHOOL COMMITTEES' ASSOCIATION
Tho- monthly meeting of the Wellington School. Committees Association was lield last night. Mr. R. T. Bailey, vicepresident, occupiod the chair. Apologies Were-received from Messrs. Wallace and Shand. Tho Minister of Education wrote refusing to install' telephones in public schools. , It. was decided to write to the Minister of Education in reference to thdj position of tlie association on tho technical school boards. , The Greater Wellington Town Planning and Municipal Electors' Association requested that the School Committees' Association' elect two delegates on . the committee. Messrs; Startup and Hill were appointed delegates. 011 the motion of Mr. O'Neill (Johneonville), seconded by Mr. (Wellington South) it was decided: "That this association regrets that the Education Department is refusing in future to su.bsidiso moneys collected for public schools." ■ It was decided that tho discussion on tho Dominion Conference be hold over until noxt meeting so as to allow delegates to bring the matter before their respective committees. . . The,report of the conference of education'boards was referred, to tho executive for an immediate report. The proposed amendment to the Education Act was considered by tho delegates, and Messrs. E. J. Colley, A. ,T. 1 White, and K. T. Bailey were elected a 'committee to deal with tho matter.and watch tho progress of the Bill beforo Parliament. H was resolved to tender a vote of thanks to Mr. R. Somple, M.P., for keep- , Ing tho association posted up with edu-w-llon matters.
